Born, 7 July 1940, the eldest Beatle, Ringo Starr, celebrated his milestone 70th birthday last week with a show at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
He accepted the happy birthday blessings from the audience with his usual sardonic humor, saying, “Thank you, I am sure all the gifts are being sent to my dressing room.”
After Ringo and the All-Starrs finished their show with the songs With A Little Help from My Friends and Give Peace A Chance, he was joined onstage by Jeff Lynne, Yoko Ono, Mark Rivera and others.
A grand birthday cake made in the form of a Ludwig drum set was wheeled out, and presented by his grandchildren immediately after the show.
OMG! Ringo has grandchildren????????
What do you get for a rock star that has, or has had, everything? Starr’s birthday wishes are on the record: For his 70th, he wants “peace and love.”
OMG! Who doesn’t want peace and love????????
Okay, I know this article isn’t intended to be an entertainment review, and after all, he is a legendary rock star, but I can’t help but wonder if he’s feeling any of the slow-down signs that many 70 year olds do. How does he keep up with the hectic pace of being an entertainer, the exhausting tours? Does he take medication or get enough rest?
From my research on the topic of senior related issues including assisted living and other options for the elderly who need “a little help from their friends,” I am absolutely, 100% convinced that doing something you love, whether it’s a hobby or money making objective helps increase your chances for emotional and physical well being.
Staying engaged in healthy activities is such an important aspect of aging that I recommend inquiring about this service when researching the option of an assisted living environment for yourself or a loved one.
